Last week, I found an old anime called "The Adventures of Maya the honeyee", I don't find it thrilling, but it called my attention, so I investigated more about that, and it was surprising what I found.

Maya originally appeared in a book: Die Biene Maja (that was translated as The adventures of Maya the Bee), wrote in German by Waldemar Bonsels and published in 1912. The book was translated to a live-action movie using real insects, directed by German photographer Wolfram Junghan. In 1962, Croation composer Brujo Bjelinski translated the book to a children's opera, where the role of bees were performed by kids, not adult actors. At the mid-1970s, the Japanese company Nippon Animation made an anime of 52 episodes (the one I found), and for what I see, it was popular around the world.

But yesterday, I found that there's a new Maya serie, developed by the Flander's company Studio 100, I found three episodes in English (running time 11 minutes), and I fell in love for the work they did, and I hope that it be broadcasted here soon. Below I leave the links to the episodes of the new serie.

I remember this character from my early teens when Nickelodeon aired it. I learned about the new 3D animated Maya the Bee series from this recent drawing of Maya from this artist here in DA [link] I have watched all three of the new 3D animated episodes and I hope they have made more, Maya is her cutest yet in the new series.

I saw Maya the Bee on Nickelodeon back in 1989. Also, I watched some of the episodes of the new series on Youtube. This is a good tribute.
